This research offered the preparation of nickel cobalt ferrite nanoparticles (NiCoFe2O4 NPs) as a nanocatalyst and applied this catalyst successfully for the synthesis of 1,4-dihydropyrimidinone derivatives under solvent-free and conventional heating. We could recover this catalyst five times and reuse it in the reaction. In addition, this catalyst was characterized by using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) techniques. Also, the purification of organic products was done by crystallization and identified by melting point, FT-IR, and hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) analyses. Research Highlight • The NiCoFe2O4 nanoparticles were prepared via simple chemical process. • The catalyst was characterized using FT-IR, SEM, XRD and VSM analyses. • The catalyst can be recovered five cycles without any loss of catalytic activity. • The NiCoFe2O4 nanoparticles as nanocatalyst were employed for green synthesis of 1,4- dihydropyrimidinone derivatives.
