Scientific and technical sources of information are becoming one of the factors that have a significant impact on the development of science, technology and innovation, showing the features of an important strategic activity. Therefore, in the context of a large amount of information resources in information centers, electronic libraries, scientific information databases, large information aggregators and the Internet, scientific institutions should take measures to effectively use existing scientific and technical information resources. This creates the need to evaluate scientific and technical information for making managerial decisions in the process of its creation, management, protection and effective use. A variety of assessment purposes, a large number of parameters reflecting the content and characteristics of information sources, as well as changes in the assessment of information depending on time complicate the issue of assessing sources of scientific and technical information. Based on the analysis of existing studies, the article presents opinions on the validity of the assessment of sources of scientific and technical information.
