L’article s’ouvre par une définition de la notion d’attribut dans le domaine iconographique et en explicite les implications et les fonctions, à partir d’exemples tirés tant de l’iconographie chrétienne que de l’univers de la bande dessinée. Différents types d’attributs sont distingués : attributs physiques, attributs narratifs. La motivation de l’attribut, qui peut être oubliée au fil du temps, est en effet essentielle et repose sur les liens entre iconographie et récits. The paper opens with a definition of the notion of attribute in iconography, and explains its implications and functions, using examples drawn from both Christian iconography and the world of comics. Different types of attributes are distinguished: physical attributes, narrative attributes. The motivation for the attribute, which can be forgotten over time, is essential and is based on the links between iconography and narratives.
