The place of livestock farming in Western agri-food systems is highly questioned and must be rethought. This article presents the transition from a conventional dairy and pork production system to a circular agroecological mixed crop-livestock system tested on a research farm in Quebec. This system is defined by four principles: . Reducing feed-food competition; . Improving the circularity of reusable resources and reduce the use of non-renewable resources; . Promoting biodiversity within the agroecosystem; and . Improving its resilience and sustainability. The project's methodological approaches, governance principles and scientific, technical and cultural challenges will be highlighted.
