MAJOR ADVISOR: LUCY FELEKE (PHD) ABSTRACT The construction industry plays an essential role in the Ethiopian economy, and is a significant contributor to economic growth. Infrastructure projects, such as building, road, bridge constructions, are some of the most important projects in Ethiopia. Construction industry has complexity in its nature because it contains large number of parties as clients, contractors, consultants, stakeholders, shareholders and regulators. However, several challenges have been recognized as confronting and influencing the construction project performance, development and growth of the Ethiopian construction industry. Nowadays, the sign of poor procurement method in construction project performance revealing in different construction projects in Ethiopia. In line with these problems the aim of this study is to investigate the influence of procurement method on completion of construction project performance in western wollega. This can be achieved by assessing the influence of tendering process on completion of construction project performance, by examining the degree to which procurement control regulations influence on completion of construction project performance, to assessing which procurement mechanism influence the completion of construction project performance, to identify the effect of bid invitation and evaluation process influence on completion of construction project performance in western Wollega. Data was collected randomly distributed by primary, secondary and interview question. The data was analyzed by using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS Version 20) computer software program and mean item score (MIS). Finally the finding of the work is bidding process affects the completion of construction projects. These include bid selection, bid documentation, bid criteria, bids and bid responses, attendance at bid meetings, bid selections and successful bids, soaring material prices before opening bids, and new technologies for opening bids. Management regulations in procurement affect the completion of construction project services, among the construction management, design and build, management contracts, and traditional systems of the selected procurement system, the design and build system has no room for billing, additional and external management costs in the form of consulting. The construction management system was rated as the best in the field survey. Keywords: Design and build, Construction project performance, procurement, procurement process, project.
