The purpose of this study was to investigate the causes and symptoms of oral communication anxiety experienced by students in EFL classroom at Dembal high school. A case study research design was employed for the current study. To collect the necessary data for the study, five semistructured interview questions for four teachers, questionnaire for eighty-four students and classroom observation for four section were employed. Data collected through questionnaires were analyzed by employing statistical tools such as frequency and percentage quantitatively, while responses obtained from interview and observation were described and discussed qualitatively. From the analysis of data, different findings were obtained. The findings of the study indicated a number of causes and symptoms of oral communication anxiety experienced by students in EFL classroom. From that students related, task related teacher related causes were directly or indirectly affected the development of students’ speaking skill. Moreover, the finding of the study depicted oral communication anxiety occurred in the form forgetting the topic that they have learnt previously as psychological symptoms while students were practicing speaking skill in the classroom. Additionally, students’ heartbeat and pulse rates increased that led to physical symptoms of oral communication anxiety experienced by students in EFL classroom. Furthermore, the study revealed both English language teachers and majority of students had negative perception on the impact oral communication anxiety on the developments of students’ speaking skill. Based on the findings, it was recommended that, English language teachers should encourage the students to focus on the speaking skill and the woreda and other concerned bodies should give awareness in the form of training for English language teachers about communicative language teaching method. 6<br>
