The article examines the urgent issue of preserving library collections through restoration and conservation of documents. The factors of destruction and damage of materials are analyzed, the main restoration works are characterized. Special attention is paid to modern innovative technologies used in the restoration and conservation of documents. The issues of assessing the condition of collections, planning restoration work, and improving the skills of restoration personnel are considered. It is concluded that an integrated approach and the use of advanced technologies are of great importance for the restoration and extension of the service life of library collections.
