Abstract

Originally from Asia, Drosophila suzukii was identified in France in 2010 and causes severe damage to various fruit species such as cherry, strawberry and raspberry, destabilizing these sectors. The aim of the Casdar project (2013-2016) was to maintain production in these crops by providing knowledge on D. suzukii as well as short, medium and long-term solutions, meeting technical, economic and environmental requirements. This project, with the contribution of all partners, provided knowledge on the biology and behaviour of D. suzukii. The effectiveness of control strategies has been assessed, and for some methods, technical and economic references were provided. Mass trapping did not appear to be effective; however, preventive measures have demonstrated to be effective (aeration of crops, management of weed and organic crop waste), as well as the use of nets.
