La pratique de l’enquête par des photographes et écrivains contemporains semble faire vaciller les frontières internes et externes de l’œuvre. L’enquête, en métissant les pratiques et les savoirs, fait absorber à l’œuvre des matériaux qui ne sont pas a priori littéraires. Parallèlement à ce mouvement centripète – où l’œuvre attire à elle des éléments qui lui sont extérieurs –, s’observe une forme de fission qui scinde l’œuvre en plusieurs réalisations issues du même noyau mais distinctes et indépendantes les unes des autres. Plurielles, hybrides et communes : ces réalisations s’éloignent sensiblement des critères traditionnellement établis pour définir la notion d’œuvre. Mobiliser pour les appréhender le concept d’inter-œuvre permet d’adapter cette compréhension classique de l’œuvre à des réalisations contemporaines. Le préfixe « inter » s’applique alors aussi bien aux liens qui se tissent entre les médiums et entre les disciplines qu’à la nouvelle organisation des créations en système. AbstractThe practice of enquiry by contemporary photographers and writers seems to blur the internal and external boundaries of the work. By blending practices and knowledge, the enquiry allows the work to absorb materials that are not a priori literary. At the same time as this centripetal movement - in which the work draws in elements that are external to it - we can observe a form of fission that splits the work into several creations stemming from the same core but distinct and independent from each other. Plural, hybrid and communal: these creations depart significantly from the criteria traditionally established to define the notion of a work of art. By using the concept of inter-œuvre to understand them, we can adapt this traditional understanding of the work to contemporary creations. The prefix “inter” can be applied to the links that are forged between media and disciplines, as well as to the new organisation of creations into systems.
