This study explores the influence of water and salt stress on the germination of alfalfa (Medicago sativa) using soil samples taken from the rhizosphere of the argan tree in the Sous-Massa region (Morocco). Analyzes reveal an exceptional nutritional composition of argan soil, promoting plant growth. The results of the germination experiments indicate positive effects for alfalfa in the presence of the tested samples. However, investigations into water stress highlight an early impact on germination, with increased resistance of germinated seeds on argan soils. At the same time, salt stress induces a significant reduction in root development. These results highlight the importance of the argan rhizosphere in promoting plant growth, thereby supporting sustainable agricultural development in pre-desert regions. They also highlight the limits of the use of soil matrices in the face of the challenges posed by water and saline stress.
