The essential properties of a hydrazide derivative of quinolinone (HDQ) make them suitable for testing as corrosion prevention compound for a variety of metal/acidic systems. It adsorbs on the metal surface and inhibits corrosion due to its electron-rich centres. Due to its π-acceptor properties, it forms a strong bond with the metallic ions. It should be noted that if the polar substituents are positioned correctly, quinolinone can form chelates with central metal ions. The Quinolinone derivative has synthesized, and characterized through 1H and 13C NMR spectrum methods. The anti-corrosive property of a Quinolinone derivative was evaluated using electrochemical methods in the temperature range of 296K -326K. Then the results are confirmed by adsorption isotherm and activation parameters. Through Scanning Electron Microscopic (SEM) images and EDAX studies, reports are further confirmed. The experimental studies are correlated with Quantum-chemical calculations such as DFT.
