Α smooth tubular filter installation may be used for removing particulates on a regenerative pot furnace used to melt glasses containing heavy metals. The construction of the filter unit and the measures avahable to avoid falling below the acid dew point during conditioning and working out are described. Cleaning is done by an on-line process. The 99 % degree of separation achieved for heavy metals ensures that operadon is kept within the legal hmit. Lastly a survey of operating costs is given.
