ARBELE project focused on the place of trees in livestock farms and the brakes or levers that determine their development. Various current or possible uses have been studied. It has thus contributed to a better understanding of the nutritional value of tree leaves and the use of wood chips as bedding. Grass production under the trees was measured and appears comparable to that of treeless grasslands. The conditions for successful tree planting on grassland were examined. It appears that, in addition to wood and its products or co-products, the tree is valued above all for the well-being it brings to the animals. It is a mainline of work to be further explored.
