Objective: to identify and synthesize the available evidence on the intention to leave the profession among nurses worldwide, as well as the factors associated with this intention. Method: this is a scoping review protocol, structured according to the methodological guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). Six databases will be used: MEDLINE, LILACS, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL and Embase, with the use of controlled descriptors (MeSH and DeCS) and free keywords related to the topic. The process of searching, identifying, screening and selecting studies will be carried out by two independent reviewers, following the assumptions established by the JBI, in order to answer the following guiding question: What are the factors associated with the intention to leave the profession among nurses in different contexts around the world? Open access primary studies published between 2020 and 2025, in any language, with different methodological approaches, whether quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods, will be included. The results will be presented according to the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). The protocol will be registered on the Open Science Framework (OSF) platform.
