Abstract

Objective: This scoping review will systematically examine, summarize and map the range and nature of the literature on the role of digital health in mental health care. In this review, the actual uses of digital health in mental health care will also be explored to identify research gaps and inform researchers and policymakers. Introduction: Mental disorders are extremely common among university students. The most common mental disorders among university students are anxiety, mood, and substance use disorders. A significant proportion of people with mental disorders do not receive treatment globally. Utilizing the power of digital health technology to deploy assistive, preventative, and therapeutic solutions for people in need is one approach to mitigating the medical and socioeconomic effects of mental illness Inclusion criteria: This review will consider college or university studies on digital health in mental health care. The concept of interest in this study is the role of digital health in mental health care. Any research, quantitative, qualitative, and mixed method primary studies, will be included in this review. Method: A three-step search strategy, consisting of an initial limited search, a full search, and a screening of the reference lists of all included articles will be undertaken. The information sources to be searched include PubMed, Psych INFO, SCOPUS, CINAHL, web of science, and Google scholar. All titles and abstracts of identified citations will be screened and then uploaded to a reference management program. The full text of studies potentially meeting the inclusion criteria will be assessed in detail, and relevant data will be extracted and reported in tabular format, in line with the objectives and scope of the review.
