This paper begins with a brief history of nonlinear optics and how the bond\nmodel emerges as a need to obtain a better physical picture of nonlinearity. A\ndescription about the possible application of the bond model is presented\nafterward followed by a theoretical explanation of its fundamentals. The\npossibility to develop this model for future application such as surface\nreconstruction characterization, real time surface biosensor monitoring, and\nsemiconductor surface bandgap determination is also presented at the end.\n
