Resumo Os atributos ecologicos das assembleias de peixes do sistema constituido pelos lagos Pucu-Purupuru, foram estimados utilizando abundâncias absoluta e relativa, riqueza, diversidade e biomassa. A diversidade foi estimada com o indice de Shannon-Wiener, a dominância foi estimada pelo indice de Berger-Parker e a distribuicao dos individuos entre as especies foi estimada pelo indice de equitabilidade. Na pesca experimental com malhadeiras foram capturados um total de 1.119 exemplares, distribuidos em 66 especies, sendo que na cheia foram capturadas 52 especies e na seca 48. As especies com maior abundância em numero de exemplares capturadas no lago na cheia foram Triportheus angulatus e Acarichthys heckelii e na seca T. angulatus, Schizodon fasciatus e Serrasalmus spilopleura . Os resultados tambem revelam similaridade na composicao da ictiofauna, entre os periodos de cheia e seca, embora as especies dominantes sejam diferentes nos dois periodos. Essas condicoes sao mantidas pela existencia de uma grande area alagada, inclusive no periodo de seca que permite a permanencia da conexao entre os lagos. Abstract The ecological attributes of fish assemblages used to describe the Pucu-Purupuru lake system were the absolute and relative abundance, richness, diversity, and biomass. The diversity was estimated with the Shannon-Wiener index, the dominance by the dominance index of Berger-Parker and the distribution of individuals among species was estimated by the index of evenness. A total of 1,119 individuals were sampled using experimental gillnet. These individuals were distributed among 66 species, with 52 species caught during the rainy season and 48 species in the dry season. The species with higher abundance in the lake during the rainy season were Triportheus angulatu s and Acarichthys heckelii . During the dry season, T. angulatus , Schizodon fasciatus and Serrasalmus spilopleura were dominant. The results also show similarity in the composition of fish populations, between periods of flood and drought, although the dominant species are different in both periods. These conditions are maintained by the existence of a large wetland, including drought, which allows connection of stay between the lakes.
