Abstract

Abstract This article presents an educational proposal that uses exoplanet research as a motivating context to promote active and situated learning of physics both at the school level and in introductory university courses. Working with real data, students are encouraged to investigate how planets form by analysing exoplanet populations and the architecture of extrasolar systems, including commonly observed arrangements such as the pea-in-a-pod configuration. This approach aims to foster the development of higher-order cognitive skills through authentic engagement with contemporary scientific research. The article discusses the scope and limitations of the proposal and offers concrete suggestions for its implementation in the classroom.
