The study examined the constraints to the sustainable utilisation of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) among users in North-central Nigeria. Data were collected through the administration of questionnaire to 251 proportionately selected users from nine purposively selected communities in two purposively selected states of North-central, Nigeria. The users age, income, household size, experience, knowledge of use and NTFPs cost determined NTFPs utilisation. Climate change and environmental degradation (𝑥=2.6), inadequate value addition and processing facilities (𝑥=2.5), Limited access to finance and credit (𝑥=2.4), and Unsustainable harvesting practices (𝑥=2.0) constituted severe constraints to sustainable utilisation of NTFPs in the study area. The study recommended adaptive mechanisms to climate change variability, to forestall forest degradation; value addition to NTFPs by users; addressing land disputes and ensuring land/ forest resource rights by the land use policy of the government among others.
