The need for qualified management of municipal solid waste arises all over the world. Countries adopt each other's experience in solving this problem, and depending on their development, they have different approaches to the issue of MSW disposal. There is a need for long-term planning for the development of the MSW management industry, as well as for legislative support of existing MSW management methods. The article examines the experience of the post-Soviet countries in the field of MSW management, and briefly examines waste disposal methods in the post-Soviet space. Based on the analysis of this information, a summary table with data on the former USSR countries was formed, and conclusions were made about the situation with MSW in the Russian Federation.
