Electron temperature gradient physics is shown to dominate the linear gyrokinetic spectrum in JET-ILW pedestals where the ion temperature is measured. This is predicted theoretically as a consequence of steep equilibrium temperature gradients, and substantiated by local gyrokinetic simulations.
