The observation of a Hume’s Leaf Warbler in Louvain-la-Neuve in the winter of 2023 represents the first record of this species in Wallonia. The confusion between this species and the Yellow-browed Warbler Phylloscopus inornatus is rare, and their identification is usually straightforward. However, factors such as feather wear, the presence of intermediate individuals, overlaps in certain patterns and observation conditions can sometimes lead to misinterpretation of certain criteria. In the case of the observation at Louvain-la-Neuve, the identification of the individual was established with certainty thanks to a combination of criteria observable from photographs and sonograms
