Methods have been developed to determine and separate contributions to the excess free energy of mixing due to interactions of pairs, triplets, and higher-order multiplets in mixed electrolyte systems. This method also indicates how to choose the proper combination of Scatchard bAB parameters to fit the experimental mixed electrolyte osmotic or activity coefficient data based on the type of interactions occurring in the solution. © 1985 American Chemical Society.
