The classification of a class of planar central configurations

Abstract

We establish a complete classification of planar central configurations in the Newtonian six-body problem consisting of four bodies at the vertices of a square, one body at the center of the square, and a sixth body in the same plane. In particular, we determine the admissible positions of the sixth body and characterize the corresponding mass relations.
