Abstract

The stress relaxation in glasses is explained as a destruction of network bonds by the influence of mobile particles. Due to the existence of stress gradients there is a transport of these particles throughout the network to the places of reaction. With these assumptions a formula for the stress relaxation is derived, from which fohows the well known formula of Adams and Williamson [1] as a special case.
