Abstract

Abstract Deuterium/hydrogen analysis of two snow profiles on Mount Melbourne and the Campbell Glacier, northern Victoria Land, Antarctica, indicate snow accumulation rates of 0.5–2.2 m/a. From the depth of burial of ash layers in ice cliffs at Mt Melbourne it is estimated that the last major eruption was between 1862 and 1922.
