Abstract Scandinavia is a country that extends from the Barents Sea to the Baltic and North Sea. These bodies of water played a decisive role in the culture and economy of the Nordic Bronze Age, which is closely linked to the north of Scandinavia. This article studies the Nordic Bronze Age, which is best characterised by the rock carvings, metalwork, longhouses, and burial mounds that were excavated in the area. It compares the Nordic Bronze Age to the other European Bronze Ages, but emphasises that it is not identical to the ‘Scandinavian Bronze Age’. The article also studies the settlements built and burials conducted during this period.
