As detailed by Martnez-Azorn & Crespo (in Taxon 65: 1427-1428. 2016), Rafinesque's typification must be followed (Art. 10.5 of the ICN; McNeill & al. in Regnum Veg. 154. 2012) unless, as proposed (Martnez-Azorn & Crespo, l.c.), Scilla is conserved with a different type, such as Hitchcock's (l.c.) choice of Scilla bifolia, which will maintain current usage of Scilla and of both subfamily Urgineoideae, used in Hyacinthaceae, and tribe Urgineae used in Asparagaceae.
