The Ranunculaceae is one of the largest families among the Dieotyledons, comprising probably about fifty genera and thousands of species, distributed widely all over the world. Among them, nearly thirty genera have been found wild or cultivated in the territory of the Japanese Empire. The endemic genera are Glaucidium SIEI3oLT et ZUCCARINI, Aneronopsis SIEBOLT et ZUCCARINI, Miyakea MIYABE et TATEWAKI and Megaleranthis Ouwi, all of which are monotypic.
