Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: This review aims to compare the effects of differing interventions such as maternal advice and support, modified bottles and/or teats, obturating plates and supplemental breastfeeding in: babies with cleft lip prior to closure babies with cleft palate prior to closure babies with cleft lip and palate prior to closure babies following cleft lip closure babies following cleft palate closure. Interventions in the first six months from term and used with breast milk or formula feeding only will be considered, but outcomes (measures of growth, development and parental satisfaction) may be measured at any time including adulthood.
