The paper aims to present the influence of the pedagogy of Friedrich Herbart (1776-1841) on Romanian pedagogical thought during the 19th Century and the first half of the 20th Century, and the impact it had on the reforms that took place between 1864 and 1948, making relevant references to the specific works in Romanian pedagogy. This is one of the instructional systems that would serve as a philosophical background for the educational reforms at the beginning of the 20th Century and would serve as an example of educational practice and pedagogical policy up to the present day.
