Abstract

On 26 March 2003, a commercial fisher captured the first black carp Mylopharyngodon piceus in the wild within the United States (see figure). James Beasley of Grafton, Illinois, captured the 783-mm, 5.8-kg specimen while fishing with trammel nets in Horseshoe Lake, Alexander County, Illinois.
