This is McClintock's only research article on controlling units to appear in a peer-reviewed journal. The article provides culture numbers, tables on the results of crosses, and explanations of tests for the presence and activity of Ac (Activator). McClintock demonstrates that she was able to select a specific gene and make it mutable.
