Abstract

An universal form for the Clausius–Clapeyron vapor pressure equation based on the use of dimensionless variables reduced by using critical and triple point coordinates is proposed. We also propose a correction to this equation that provides a simple predictive form for the vapor pressure equation of a pure fluid, consistent with renormalization group theory. The proposed equation is valid over the entire liquid–vapor coexistence curve and predicts vapor pressure values that agree satisfactorily (with an absolute average relative deviation less than 3%) with experimental data for a structurally diverse set of 14 fluids.
