First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Rebecca Morrison is first author on ‘ The LRRK2 G2019S variant rewires Rab GTPase phosphorylation after lysosomal damage and promotes cell death in human macrophages’, published in JCS. Rebecca conducted the research described in this article while a clinical research fellow in Dr Max Gutierrez's lab at The Francis Crick Institute, London, UK. She is now a clinical lecturer in diagnostic neuropathology in the lab of Prof. Colin Smith at the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK, investigating the underlying mechanisms of lysosomal dysfunction in human neurodegenerative disease.
