First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Quentin Frenger is first author on ‘ Vimentin intermediate filaments support autophagosome biogenesis at ER–endosome contact sites in response to starvation’, published in JCS. Quentin conducted the research described in this article while a postdoc in Etienne Morel's lab at Institut Necker Enfants Malades, Université Paris Cité, Paris, France. He is now a postdoc in the lab of Franck Perez at Institut Curie, PSL University, Paris, France, studying intracellular trafficking mechanisms and organelle biogenesis using quantitative high-resolution imaging.
