Symmetries play an important role in the understanding of complex systems. However, complete dynamical symmetries are manifest in only a few nuclei. By establishing a link between two hitherto unrelated symmetry concepts, the authors show that partial fulfillment of diverse symmetries may simultaneously occur in certain atomic nuclei.
