Dans le théâtre caribéen contemporain, le corps est dépositaire d’un panel très large de significations. Loin des figures tutélaires du panthéon historique qui firent les beaux jours des dramaturgies caribéennes du XX<sup>e</sup> siècle, les personnages du théâtre contemporain présentent un visage inquiétant. Les pièces du répertoire contemporain sont traversées de personnages erratiques et loqueteux dont les corps portent les stigmates des affres traversés. Cette mise en scène de corps monstrueux, difformes, fracturés, ne constituent qu’un premier niveau de représentation. De manière plus souterraine, les corps du corpus contemporains travaillent le récit et la mémoire historiques, problématisent le monde contemporain. Ils contribuent également à renouveler l’approche du contemporain par le texte théâtral. <strong>Abstract</strong> In contemporary Caribbean theatre, the body is the repository of a very wide range of meanings. Far from the tutelary figures of the historical pantheon who made the heyday of 20th century Caribbean dramaturgy, the characters of contemporary theatre present a disturbing face. The pieces of the contemporary repertoire are crossed by erratic and loquetous characters whose bodies bear the stigmata of the affres traversed. This staging of monstrous, deformed, fractured bodies is only the first level of representation. In a more underground way, the bodies of the contemporary corpus work on historical narrative and memory, problematizing the contemporary world. They also contribute to renewing the approach of contemporary through the theatrical text.
