T he 350th anniversary of the Royal Society was celebrated in November 2010. This British society is the oldest scientific institution in the world, with 8200 fellows, including foreign members, having been elected during this period. Sir Isaac Newton is just one of the world’s great scientists who have served as officers of the Royal Society. Today there are 69 Nobel Laureates among the membership of 1400.
