The origin of Korean identity, Dongee was representing a race dwelling in the east of Chinese ancient territory and the race was well equipped with advanced bows. Later, the Korean ancient state, Goguryeo had a technology to be able to make horn bows and bush clover tree arrows utilizing irons. Its advanced technology and performance were essential and efficient to protect the state against the Northern invaders. The well-created technology was spreaded throughout the peninsula through the war or trading commodities. Baekje promoted horseback archery to succeed the spirit of the continental character. Shilla launched the law to recruit the talented elites in archery and trained them within a perfect character building system of Hwarangdo. Hwarangdo eventually contributed to the unification of the Korean ancient kingdoms advancing the long range shooting archery and a mighty catapult. Educational institutes including Taehak and Gyeongdang, Ogyeongbaksa and Hwarangdo and Gukhak adopted archery to educate the youths' mind and body and to prepare for the war.
