Abstract

This project aims to conduct a systematic review and, if possible, a meta-analysis to compare the diagnostic performance of PET, MRI, CT, and echocardiography in detecting cardiac metastases in patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Cardiac metastases derived from NETs are rare but clinically significant, and their early detection is essential to guide therapeutic decisions and improve patient outcomes. The review will systematically evaluate studies that assess the usefulness of these imaging modalities. In addition, the clinical impact of imaging findings will be evaluated, including changes in patient treatment and associations with survival outcomes. The results of this review will be complemented by a series of cases from our institution, which will provide real-life examples of how imaging findings alter clinical management and patient survival. This work will provide valuable information to optimize the diagnostic approach to cardiac metastases in patients with NETs and improve patient care.
