All Osteostracan species of the Gaspé Sandstones (Devonian of Canada), formerly attributed to the genus Cephalaspis, are referred here to the new genus Yvonaspis. The latter is characterized by the very elongated shape of the naso-hypophysal opening. This monophyletic genus may be the sister group of Parameteoraspis among cephalaspidians.
