The second and third factorial moments of multiplicity distributions for gluon and quark jets are obtained from the equations for generating functions. These equations are derived from QCD with a running coupling constant, and the solutions are calculated to order (√\ensuremathαs)3, i.e., the next-to-next-to-next-to leading order. The results are confronted with experimental data. A general discussion on high order corrections revealed by such an approach is given. Other possible corrections and approaches are discussed as well.
