The Sumerian “city lament” known by its modern title as the Lament over Eridu cannot be fully reconstructed at the present time. Only eight manuscripts of the poem have been indentified until now and none covers the whole composition. Even when combined together, these eight manuscripts do not allow for a full reconstrucion of the lament and several gaps in the plot still exist. A recently identified ninth manuscript of the composition closes one such gap: the beginning of the sixth kirugu section. In this article the new addition is presented in transliteration and translation, supplemented by a brief philological commentary.
