The operator-independent mindfulness-based applications opened up an exciting new path, combining mindfulness's effectiveness with the feasibility of digital interventions. Within a short period of time, the research and clinical communities predicted that mindfulness-based digital interventions would be a highly promising avenue for daily stress management. It also provided an opportunity to supplement these relatively new resources with the wait time for an appointment with a specialized therapist. As such, our systematic review and meta-analysis are focused on assessing the efficacy of digital mindfulness-based interventions in reducing perceived stress among the general population in the absence of active diagnosis of any psychiatric disorder (e.g., major depressive disorder, bipolar depression, psychotic disorders, etc.)
