Abstract

In the past 30 years, international relations has developed as a largely autonomous part of political science. Even though it has shared many of political science’s vicissitudes — battles among various orientations, theories, and methods — it also has a story of its own. What follows is an attempt at neither a complete balance sheet nor a capsule history — merely a set of reflections on the specific accomplishments and frustrations of a particular field of scholarship. 1 These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
