Quantum transport is investigated by a suitable development of the Kubo formula on a basis of orthogonal polynomials and by using real-space recursion principle. The general method enables us to treat aperiodic systems close to metal-insulator transitions. For quantum Hall systems, results in the context of universal relations between transport coefficients are reported. The RKKY mesoscopic interaction is also evaluated for generally inhomogeneously disordered compounds and exemplified on two-dimensional quasiperiodic systems. Finally, insight of the potential perspectives for large-scale computational applications are given.
