Based on type specimens and cultures from an isolate of Tipula paludosa in Germany, Rhabditis tipulae is redescribed for the first time. Some errors of the original description are corrected. The first male was found. The species is placed in the Dolichura-group within the subgenus Oscheius. Some biological observations are reported. The association is a further example of necromeny.
