The hadronic charmless B decays into a scalar meson and a vector meson are studied within the framework of QCD factorization. The main results are: (i) The decay rates for the f0(980)K^*\ensuremath- and f0(980)K*0 modes depend on the f0\ensuremath-\ensuremathσ mixing angle \ensuremathθ. (ii) If the a0(980) is a qq bound state, the predicted branching ratios for the color-allowed channels a0+\ensuremathρ^\ensuremath- and a00\ensuremathρ^\ensuremath- will be very large, of order 28\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi10^\ensuremath-6 and 21\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi10^\ensuremath-6, respectively. (iii) For the a0(1450) channels, the color-allowed modes a0+(1450)\ensuremathρ^\ensuremath- and a00(1450)\ensuremathρ^\ensuremath- are found to have branching ratios of order 20\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi10^\ensuremath-6 and 30\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi10^\ensuremath-6, respectively. A measurement of them at the predicted level will favor the qq structure for the a0(1450). (iv) Contrary to the naive expectation that \ensuremathΓ(B^\ensuremath-\ensuremath→a00\ensuremathρ^\ensuremath-)\ensuremath∼(1)/(2)\ensuremathΓ(B0\ensuremath→a0+\ensuremathρ^\ensuremath-), we found that this naive relation is violated especially for a0=a0(1450) due to additional contributions to the a00\ensuremathρ^\ensuremath- mode from the a00 emission. (v) The decays B\ensuremath→K0*(1430)\ensuremathρ are expected to have rates substantially larger than that of B\ensuremath→K0*(1430)\ensuremathπ owing to the constructive (destructive) interference between the a4 and a6 penguin terms in the former (latter). Experimentally, it is thus important to check if the B\ensuremath→K0*\ensuremathρ modes are enhanced relative to the corresponding K0*\ensuremathπ channels.
