Glyphipterix hannemanni n. sp. is the first representative of the family Glyphipterigidae known from the Philippines. The species is described and figured in detail. The taxonomic position within the genus cannot be defined clearly. Near relatives are assumed to be among oriental species. The family is imperfectly known in in the region, which prevents any zoogeographical considerations.
